The American Red Cross (ARC) works to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies and is constantly working to increase the availability of blood and blood products. Unfortunately, their existing Southern California Region facility had been in operation for over fifty years and its size and infrastructure challenged the efficiency to provide blood services. As the first in a 10-year, $1 billion strategic capital investment program, the ARC’s most important goal for the new southern region center was to consolidate and streamline all the functions involved with blood collection, testing, and processing. EwingCole’s design of this 190,000 sf facility included flexible laboratory and patient spaces that increase efficiency and improve product and service quality. The design also incorporates flexibility to meet tough and ever-changing global regulatory requirements, cGMP compliance and stringent safety rules.
"The design of the Pomona facility has positively contributed to the fabric of our organization, to the community and to our outreach efforts. We are now positioned to serve the current and future needs of this region and our network across the country."
