Alcon

Innovation Training Center

Lake Forest, CA

Alcon’s goal for the center was to transform outdated conference space into a new, state-of-the-art West Coast meeting and live streaming hub to be used to train Alcon employees and others from around the world.

EwingCole provided full A/E services for programming, design, and construction for the new Innovation Center located on Alcon’s Lake Forest Research and Development campus. The new design optimized the use of new show wet labs, a software development working lab, an auditorium, and training rooms for multi-functional purposes such as training, development, and live streaming globally. The Innovation Center was designed to host visiting groups of surgeons, doctors, and software developers from across the globe. During these events, Alcon products, such as equipment, consumables, and software for eye surgery, will be showcased.

The connecting corridors were planned and arranged to create a contiguous central thoroughfare that serves as a tour path while at the same time showcasing the various suites, labs, and treatment rooms along its path. Training and live streaming are important functions for the center. AV hardware was very important to the project, and careful planning and integration of the equipment was critical to the project’s success. The Innovation Center offers fully customizable wet labs with various utilities that can be expanded or subdivided for various uses.

The equipment and utilities allow for quick and efficient transformation of spaces and reorganizing to create the following functions:

  • Research and Development suites
  • Training suites
  • Mock eye exam and treatment rooms
  • Mock eye surgery rooms
