Edgewood Administrative Office for Chemical and Biological Defense

Aberdeen, MD

The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense is the US DoD point for biological, chemical and nuclear defense equipment and medical countermeasures for the US Armed Forces. Instigated by the Base Realignment & Closure Act, related agencies were consolidated from three locations in Virginia and Texas and relocated to Aberdeen Proving Ground Campus. During the Design-Build process for the 75,000 SF, LEED Silver office building, the EwingCole team realized the amount of desired program exceeded the space allowed. In response, EwingCole developed new office standards, with a focus on shared workplace resources to optimize use of space, such as conferencing, central supply, café, and lobby, while reconfiguring workstations to receive natural light for increased worker productivity and comfort.

"This is one more critical milestone in a transformation that is literally changing the landscape of Aberdeen Proving Ground for the better."

- Col. Andrew B. Nelson
Deputy Garrison Commander for Transformation
