Campus Development

Bangalore, India

Dayananda Sagar University is a new institution of higher learning for 16,000 students located in Bangalore, India. The 105 acre campus plan includes facilities for academic learning, administrative support, residential communities, student life and a teaching hospital. Their goal is to re-introduce bio-diversity, enhance the site’s ecological systems, create landscapes that are self-sustaining, and use minimum energy. EwingCole merged site planning concepts to enhance the natural ecological systems with formal design strategies inspired by the traditional plinth and tower typologies for organizing program. The master plan integrates built-form, landscape, and program with concepts of sustainability, living-learning environments, and indoor-outdoor space-making.
