National Museum of the American Indian - Native New York Exhibit

New York, NY

The Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of the American Indian is committed to showcasing native voices, heritage, and culture. Its latest exhibit, Native New York, follows a 400-mile path through Upstate New York and New York City across five centuries. EwingCole prepared the existing gallery for the new exhibit designed by C&G Partners by providing basic interior architecture and finishes, illumination lighting, structural modifications, HVAC, fire alarms, and integrating systems with the museum’s building management system. This unique space incorporates digital interactives woven with collection display, requiring an update to power, data, and AV distribution to support the high-tech environment. Custom flooring accentuates the path through time and across New York as visitors experience the space. “Native New York” Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian images courtesy of exhibit designers C&G Partners
