EwingCole has announced a series of leadership appointments that reinforce the firm’s commitment to serving public institutions, cultural organizations, and educational clients nationwide. The following leaders will guide their respective practices:

  • Angela Matchica, Director of Civic Practice
  • Casey Gallagher, Director of Cultural Projects
  • Barbara Kolonauski, Director of Government Projects

Angela Matchica Named Director of Civic Practice

Angela Matchica has been appointed Director of Civic Practice. Since joining EwingCole in 2007, Angela has played a key role in expanding the firm’s national presence across government, cultural, and institutional markets. An engineer by training, she combines expertise in lighting design, sustainability, building performance, and project leadership to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex challenges and opportunities.

Throughout her career, she has led projects for organizations including the Smithsonian Institution, the Franklin Institute, NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic, Duke University, and the Yale Center for British Art. Her work reflects a commitment to creating high-performing environments that support mission-driven organizations while advancing sustainability, resilience, and long-term value.

As Director of Civic Practice, Angela will focus on strengthening client relationships, expanding strategic opportunities, and advancing the firm’s portfolio of cultural, government, and education projects.

Casey Gallagher Named Director of Cultural Projects

Casey Gallagher has been appointed Director of Cultural Projects. Casey has established herself as a trusted advisor to some of the nation’s most respected museums, historic sites, gardens, and cultural institutions. Her portfolio includes work for the Smithsonian Institution, Dumbarton Oaks Museum & Gardens, Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, and Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.

Known for her planning expertise and collaborative leadership style, Casey helps institutions navigate complex stakeholder priorities while building consensus around long-term goals. Her approach emphasizes strategic planning, thoughtful engagement, and design solutions that support institutional missions while enhancing the visitor experience.

As Director of Cultural Projects, Casey will continue to guide the growth of EwingCole’s nationally recognized cultural practice while strengthening partnerships with museums, archives, libraries, gardens, and other cultural organizations.

Barbara Kolonauski Named Director of Government Projects

Barbara Kolonauski has been appointed Director of Government Projects. A principal and accomplished project leader, Barbara brings extensive experience managing highly complex projects for public-sector clients. During her career at EwingCole, she has contributed to landmark projects including Citizens Bank Park, MetLife Stadium, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History.

More recently, she has led some of the firm’s most technically demanding and high-profile projects, including the Intelligence Community Campus–Bethesda, the United States Military Academy Cyber & Engineering Academic Center, Southern Methodist University’s Perkins and Smith Hall renovation, and the Archives at Cullum Hall at West Point.

Barbara’s expertise in project delivery, stakeholder coordination, and technical execution has earned the confidence of clients, consultants, and project teams alike. In her new role, she will focus on advancing project excellence and supporting the continued growth of EwingCole’s government portfolio.
