FirstEnergy Stadium, home to the Reading Fightin Phils, is a premier destination for Class AA minor league baseball, renowned for its exceptional atmosphere and consistently large fan base from southeast Pennsylvania and beyond. EwingCole’s latest renovation and expansion elevate the stadium’s facilities to meet Major League Baseball’s new Professional Development League (PDL) Facility Standards while enhancing its role as a community hub. Following EwingCole’s earlier work on the stadium in 2011, this comprehensive update introduces dual-use spaces under the new name “Redner’s Event Center,” supporting both baseball and event operations.
This renovation features a dedicated standalone structure that houses both home and visiting team clubhouses, providing versatile spaces that seamlessly adapt to meet different operational needs. For example, during event configurations, the Batting Tunnel becomes the R-Phils Turf Club, the Home Locker Room transforms into the R-Phils Club, and visiting areas convert into the Baseballtown Club. This flexible approach maximizes space utilization, making the venue equally capable of hosting non-baseball events and offering unique advantages for other MiLB stadiums aiming to diversify their offerings.
EwingCole’s renovations ensure that FirstEnergy Stadium meets MLB’s latest facility standards while expanding its capabilities as a community venue.
