EwingCole has completed the design for the renovation of Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, a transformative project that will modernize one of college football’s most historic venues while preserving the traditions and character that have defined Georgia Tech football for generations.

Originally constructed in 1913 as Grant Field, Bobby Dodd Stadium is the oldest continuously used on-campus stadium in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). As part of Georgia Tech Athletics’ Full Steam Ahead initiative, the renovation is designed to enhance the game-day experience by significantly upgrading seating, premium hospitality spaces, technology, accessibility, and fan amenities. Construction is scheduled to begin following the 2026 football season, with completion anticipated ahead of the 2027 season.

Premium hospitality experiences are a central component of the renovation. EwingCole’s design reimagines the stadium’s club and suite offerings, including renovations to existing premium spaces and the creation of new hospitality environments that support a wide range of fan experiences. These spaces incorporate upgraded finishes, enhanced food-and-beverage offerings, integrated audiovisual technology, and flexible layouts designed to serve both game-day functions and year-round events.

The finalized design includes installing approximately 12,500 mesh chairback seats throughout the stadium, replacing existing bleacher seating in key locations to improve comfort and the overall spectator experience. The project will also introduce a new state-of-the-art videoboard and an upgraded sound system, strengthening fan engagement and elevating the atmosphere on game days.

The renovation also includes improvements to fan circulation and accessibility throughout the venue. Wider aisles, additional handrails, enhanced ADA accommodations, and upgraded social and food-service areas are designed to create a more comfortable and inclusive experience for all attendees. Press and operational support spaces will also be modernized to improve functionality and efficiency behind the scenes.

As collegiate athletics continue to evolve, Georgia Tech is investing in Bobby Dodd Stadium to meet changing expectations for comfort, hospitality, and premium experiences while ensuring the long-term vitality of one of the sport’s most iconic venues. With a portfolio spanning collegiate athletics, professional sports, and entertainment venues nationwide, EwingCole brings a hospitality-driven design approach that thoughtfully integrates premium amenities, social gathering spaces, and immersive fan experiences into the fabric of each venue.

The completed design balances modernization and preservation, ensuring that Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field remains a premier destination for Yellow Jackets fans while honoring more than a century of history and tradition.
