The Mets’ reimagined spring training experience balances fan engagement with advanced player development across a 100-acre campus
Clover Park
Port St. Lucie, FL
Port St. Lucie is the longtime spring training home of the New York Mets and the base for their minor league operations. As the team sought to enhance both its fan offerings and player development infrastructure, they envisioned a campus that could deliver an intimate and engaging experience for visitors while providing elite training environments for athletes.
The existing 100+ acre site needed a comprehensive plan that would modernize stadium amenities and transform the player development experience. The Mets aimed to strengthen community ties through better facilities for fans while also reinforcing their commitment to developing top-tier talent.
EwingCole designed a dual-focused solution that elevates both the fan and athlete experience. For fans, the 7,000-seat stadium now includes a landscaped arrival plaza, expanded concourses, new restrooms and concessions, a team store, and an outfield bar. An outfield concourse extension and a new elevator improve access and connectivity throughout the ballpark.
The new player development complex supports year-round training with a full-size synthetic turf practice field, a half-size field, bunting fields, a 10-pack pitching field, four covered batting tunnels, and dedicated spaces for strength, conditioning, and nutrition. A new MLB clubhouse anchors the training side of the site, reflecting the Mets’ focus on performance and long-term development
This integrated approach creates a spring training campus that supports player growth while drawing fans deeper into the game-day experience, enhancing Clover Park’s role as a community and athletic hub.
