Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater is one of New York’s most treasured outdoor venues, renowned for its iconic Art Deco architecture and scenic waterfront location. Originally opened in 1952 as the Jones Beach Marine Theater, the venue has hosted musicals, concerts, and water shows, earning it a reputation as a cultural landmark for generations.
In 2012, Superstorm Sandy caused widespread damage to the theater, threatening its upcoming season and long-standing community presence. With the clock ticking, the challenge was to complete a comprehensive restoration in under six months—ensuring the summer lineup would continue uninterrupted.
The project included full replacement of the historic wood turntable stage, 3,500 lower-level seats, all ground-level electrical systems, and significant portions of the plumbing and mechanical infrastructure. Additional repairs restored the wooden boardwalk, auxiliary tent structures, and other site elements critical to venue operations.
The revitalized venue reopened on time, preserving its historical character while enhancing functionality and safety. Today, it remains a cherished destination for live entertainment on Long Island’s South Shore.
