Mann Center Master Plan

Philadelphia, PA

The Mann Center for the Performing Arts, one of the nation’s largest non-profit open-air music venues, brings world-renowned performances to Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park and welcomes over 200,000 visitors annually. Known for its commitment to entertainment, education, and community, the Mann sought to chart a bold path forward after completing its previous master plan.

Faced with a changing performing arts landscape, the Mann needed a comprehensive strategy to support future growth while elevating the overall guest experience. The organization’s vision focused on redefining its physical and cultural presence within the park to meet evolving audience expectations and expand its impact.

EwingCole developed a forward-looking 20-year master plan that reimagines the venue for the 21st century. The design introduces a more expansive and inviting entry plaza and garden promenade, replacing the compact asphalt arrival space. Key features include fountains, photogenic signage, and upgraded food and beverage offerings, including a new wine and craft cocktail bar.

Green roofs and terraces blend architecture with nature, preserving views of the stage and city skyline while providing occupiable landscapes. The plan also introduces a permanent Skyline Stage for mid-size shows, a new donor lounge and VIP spaces, and traffic improvements outside the gates to streamline access and departure.

The new master plan positions the Mann Center to build on its legacy, deepen its community connections, and provide a world-class cultural experience for decades to come.
