Dale & Frances Hughes Cancer Center
East Stroudsburg, PA
The Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono is committed to delivering the most advanced cancer care to the region’s residents. With a mission focused on optimizing every patient’s chance for recovery, the hospital sought to create a dedicated facility that pairs cutting-edge treatment with a supportive healing environment.
The design of this 65,000-square-foot cancer center emphasizes therapeutic elements to reduce stress and promote wellness. Patients and caregivers benefit from natural light, outdoor views of serene wooded surroundings, and calming interior palettes and textures.
Additional features include a healing garden with walkable paths, offering moments of reflection and respite, and a covered drop-off area that ensures comfort and convenience upon arrival.
Together, these elements create a space that fosters clinical excellence and emotional support, delivering care in a setting designed to heal the whole person.
“I see hope here. The clarity of glass, white walls, the colors of natural courts, and the attention to detail expresses the science involved in healing. Light is the theme. The warmth of the sun lifts the spirit of patients during difficult treatments for cancer. Well composed. Crisply detailed.”
