Elevating an Experience
Michie Stadium delivers an upgraded, environmentally responsible experience for fans and athletes alike.
Michie Stadium Preservation Project
West Point, NY
The United States Military Academy is one of the nation’s most prestigious institutions, known for cultivating leadership, honoring tradition, and instilling a commitment to service. Its historic Michie Stadium, home to the Army Black Knights, has hosted generations of cadets, alumni, and fans for over six decades.
Though iconic, the 1962 East Stands no longer meets the evolving expectations of modern collegiate athletics or the needs of today’s spectators. The U.S. Military Academy sought to preserve the character of Michie Stadium while delivering an upgraded, environmentally responsible experience for both fans and athletes.
“EwingCole has been working on Post since 2009 when they first designed our USMA Prep School athletic facilities. Since then they have completed an Athletic Master plan identifying Michie Stadium East Stands as one of our premier projects. They won the competition to design our East Stands project currently under construction. We’ve trusted them to deliver our most prominent athletic project despite all the challenges we’ve faced as part of the post-pandemic market. They are persistent and have kept our interests at the forefront of the design and construction process.”
Dan McCarthy, Deputy Athletics Director, Chief Operating Officer – Army West Point Athletics
EwingCole is leading the programming, planning, and design of a reimagined East Stands complex that respects the Academy’s storied past while embracing innovation. The new design enhances fan amenities, integrates advanced technologies, and reflects current best practices in sports architecture and sustainability.
