McCormick Field Renovations & Upgrades

Asheville, NC

Settled into a valley at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, McCormick Field is home to the Tourists’ minor league baseball team. McCormick Field has been a cornerstone of baseball in Asheville for over 100 years. However, after decades without significant upgrades—the last major renovation occurred in 1992—the historic, 4,000-seat ballpark needed a comprehensive modernization to meet current standards and support the franchise’s future.

In 2016, the Asheville Tourists and the City of Asheville commissioned a joint facility assessment and concept study to evaluate long-term operational needs, improve fan amenities, and explore new revenue opportunities. Following the release of the updated Professional Development League (PDL) Facility Standards by Major League Baseball in 2020, the city officially launched a multi-phased renovation project, the most extensive single construction effort ever undertaken by Asheville in terms of dollar value.
