Readiness on Sacred Ground
This new hillside campus at West Point equips future cadets with the tools to succeed—academically, physically, and militarily.
United States Military Academy Preparatory School
West Point, NY
Founded in 1916, the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School plays a vital role in developing soldiers and civilians into successful cadet candidates for West Point. In 2005, the Base Realignment and Closure Act relocated the school from Fort Monmouth to the historic grounds of the U.S. Military Academy, presenting an opportunity to create a purpose-built campus that reflects its mission.
Set within a 57-acre forested site, the new campus consolidates 254,000 square feet of academic, residential, and athletic space into a single, interconnected system. The design threads classroom buildings, lecture halls, dining areas, and dormitories in a continuous ribbon across the hillside—preserving flat terrain for three NCAA athletic fields, an indoor practice facility, and a 1,200-seat gymnasium.
This strategic layout balances function, topography, and tradition, creating a campus environment that supports holistic cadet preparation while respecting West Point’s character. The result is a modern, mission-driven facility that advances the school’s legacy of service, discipline, and excellence.
