Christopher Garris, AIA, LEED AP

Regional Director of Design, Raleigh

With an eye toward innovation, Chris regularly pushes boundaries to reimagine the impact and potential of high-quality design. He believes that design can transform communities and that sensitive design solutions speak to their specific time and place. Storytelling is signature to his design projects, and it is only through careful listening and close collaboration that the best ideas appear. Chris is skilled at distilling ideas into carefully crafted, award-winning projects. Over his 30 year career, Chris has worked across project scales and types to help clients ideate, program, and realize large, complex projects. For many public clients, public stakeholder engagement is an integral part of the process of design. Chris is very adept at communicating to diverse audiences about design aspirations and goals. Museum, university, healthcare, corporate, and transportation clients make up a large portion of his portfolio, and each of these project types demands clarity of idea and attention to detail execution. Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture in 1991 and a Bachelor of Architecture from North Carolina State University in 1992. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Green Build Council.
