Focused on the Finish Line
The Rutgers Hale Center renovation is a key athletic space located beneath SHI Stadium, designed to improve athlete care, team culture, and performance recovery.
Hale Center
Camden, NJ
The Hale Center is an older addition to SHI Stadium and the home for the Rutgers football program. EwingCole completed a mini-master plan, dubbed the Athletics Strategic Vision, for the existing facility to utilize space more efficiently. The goal was to enlarge, modernize, and enhance specific training, sports medicine, and recovery spaces in a previously underutilized area beneath SHI Stadium for football operations and players while boosting football recruitment potential
Performance, Recovery, and Team Culture
The renovation began with a significant expansion of the sports medicine area, improving gameday treatment access and streamlining recovery protocols. Renovated meeting rooms with upgraded branding and AV technology foster communication and team alignment, while a new players’ lounge provides a vibrant, comfortable space for relaxation and connection.
A major addition is that the new nutrition center offers convenient, on-site fuel for athletes between practices, training sessions, and classes. The adjacent recovery suite features cutting-edge amenities, including a salt pod room, infrared saunas, dry float therapy, vibroacoustic treatment, and electric cryotherapy, which support holistic healing and sustainable performance.
