Rutgers University, a Big Ten institution with a strong academic and athletic tradition, understands the demands placed on student-athletes balancing performance in both arenas. To better support their success, the university set out to create a centralized facility that fosters academic achievement alongside athletic development.
In collaboration with Rutgers Institutional Planning and Operations and the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, the university developed the Gary and Barbara Rodkin Academic Success Center, a facility designed to integrate the academic and athletic needs of student-athletes.
The center features modern learning environments, including dedicated tutoring and study areas, new lounges, meeting rooms, and offices supporting team operations. It also serves as the home for Rutgers’ men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse programs, providing each with new locker rooms, training areas, and equipment spaces.
By consolidating academic and athletic resources under one roof, the facility creates a holistic environment that prioritizes student well-being and performance—on the field and in the classroom.
Today, the Rodkin Center stands as a signature building for Rutgers athletics and academics, reinforcing the university’s commitment to developing well-rounded leaders.
