Fisher Student Center

Smithfield, RI

Bryant University prepares students to become innovative, ethical leaders through a dynamic academic environment and a strong sense of community. As part of its Vision 20/20 strategic plan, the university set out to enhance campus spaces that support student life, focusing on transforming its existing student center.

The original facility no longer reflected the energy or engagement of the student body, and it lacked the social, collaborative spaces needed for a growing and increasingly diverse campus community.

In response, Bryant prioritized the redevelopment of the student center as a key initiative in its campus master plan. The design team worked closely with university leadership to reimagine the building as an integrated lifestyle center that provides flexible, engaging spaces for students to gather, connect, and recharge.

The design improves campus flow and creates a more distinctive and welcoming entrance from the lakeside. Inside, it offers vibrant social spaces that support clubs, events, and day-to-day interaction, helping to foster a stronger sense of belonging.

The revitalized center now serves as the social heart of campus, aligning with Bryant’s mission and providing students with a dynamic environment that supports personal growth and community engagement.

“Beyond the updated finishes, the real success of the project is obvious with students filling the lounges, socializing, studying, and participating in many of the endless events now held in this preferred building. Through your thoughtful reconfiguration, the space has re-energized the once dowdy center with a rich and vibrant student experience. ”
