Fillmore Minneapolis
Minneapolis, MN
Live Nation, one of the world’s leading live entertainment companies, is known for producing unforgettable music experiences in venues that resonate with local culture. In Minneapolis, the company set out to create a concert hall that honored the city’s deep musical roots while enhancing its already vibrant North Loop neighborhood.
The site—a former rail yard once central to the city’s logging and flour trade—presented an opportunity to transform an industrial relic into a modern music destination. Live Nation needed a space that paid tribute to both the historic Fillmore legacy and Minneapolis’s distinct cultural identity.
EwingCole’s design merges the signature elements of the original Fillmore in San Francisco—chandeliers, red velvet, and wood—with motifs unique to Minneapolis. Inside, guests are welcomed by murals of local icons, including Prince, Lizzo, The Replacements, and Bob Dylan, while custom finishes—such as reclaimed timber, recycled leather, steel trusses, and neon art—evoke the city’s bridges and creative energy.
The result is a dynamic, multi-level venue that accommodates 2,200 guests and elevates the concert-going experience. BG’s Lounge, a VIP area adorned with luxurious textures and rich colors, offers a front-row view of Minneapolis’s music history. At the same time, the main hall creates an immersive environment where music and place converge.
Since its opening, the Fillmore Minneapolis has become a cornerstone of the city’s live performance scene, offering audiences a venue that’s as iconic and layered as the music it showcases.
