ESU University Center

East Stroudsburg, PA

East Stroudsburg University, founded in 1839, continues to grow its reputation for delivering a collaborative, student-focused education. As enrollment increased and campus needs evolved, university leaders envisioned a centralized facility as a hub for student life, support services, and engagement.

To bring this vision to life, ESU developed a new 166,802-square-foot university center designed to reflect the institution’s values of inclusivity, transparency, and community. The building’s exterior blends traditional brick with expansive glass elements, creating visual openness and inviting connection. At its core, a multi-story atrium with overhanging balconies and open staircases anchors the design—framed by lounge seating and open views that position the space as the campus “living room.”

The university center offers a wide array of student-facing resources and amenities, including a new bookstore, art gallery, theater, and esports center. It also houses key student service offices such as Career Services, Multicultural & International Support, the Student Activity Association, and the E-Card office. The upper floors are dedicated to student media, government, and identity-based organizations, including the student newspaper and radio station, Veterans’ Center, commuter lounge, and Women’s & LGBTQ Center.
