Office & Laboratory Tenant Improvement
San Francisco, CA
Adaptive Biotechnologies is a pioneering immune medicine company specializing in genome sequencing, cell and gene therapy development, and antibody discovery. To support rapid growth and new collaborations, including work on COVID-19 vaccine development, Adaptive needed to expand its West Coast operations.
The company identified a 33,000-square-foot expansion within a newly constructed 23-story tower in San Francisco. Integrating biosafety level (BSL) labs into a high-rise environment introduced design complexities related to infrastructure, safety, and operations. The project required a deep understanding of Adaptive’s scientific processes, equipment specifications, and workflows to ensure a seamless fit within the space.
The design team translated these operational needs into a high-performance lab and office environment that emphasizes safety, functionality, and long-term adaptability. The flexible layout supports evolving research demands, while the interior environment reflects the company’s identity and commitment to groundbreaking science.
By delivering a laboratory that balances technical performance and user experience, the project helps Adaptive Biotechnologies retain top talent and continue driving innovation in immunomedicine.
