South Dining Hall

Kutztown, PA

Kutztown University Dining Services offers a diverse range of meal options that cater to the nutritional needs of its campus community. To better support evolving student preferences, the university launched a master plan centered on the ‘’Anytime Dining’’ concept, an approach designed to provide flexible, engaging dining experiences beyond traditional meal schedules.

To execute the plan’s most ambitious phase, the university focused on transforming the South Dining Hall into a space that fosters both nourishment and connection. The renovation reorganized the ground floor to introduce a range of student-focused amenities, including a lounge and gaming area, a formal dining room, and a performance stage. These features converge around a central fireplace with communal seating, creating an inviting hub for both dining and social activities.

The design team prioritized flexibility and variety, incorporating a mix of furniture types and layered seating arrangements to accommodate different group sizes and individual preferences. Soft seating, digital entertainment, and recreational features further support student well-being, extending the value of the dining hall beyond its traditional role.

The result is a revitalized South Dining Hall that supports Kutztown University’s vision for ‘’Anytime Dining’’ a welcoming, multifunctional space that enhances campus life and reflects the university’s commitment to student satisfaction.
