Adaptive Biotechnologies is an immune medicine platform company working on genome sequencing for cell and gene therapies, antibody discovery, and, most recently, collaborating with multiple companies to assist the Covid-19 vaccine drug discovery. Located in a recently completed 23-story tower, Adaptive needed to expand its existing operations by 33,000 SF to meet current and future needs. The expansion posed many challenges, such as the integration of BSL labs in a high-rise building. It required an understanding of the detailed operational requirements and a thorough review of their scientific mission, equipment needs, workflow, and protocols. Such details built and supported the basis for mapping clear facility design programs and translating them into a safe, functional, and operational design. The new space is flexible to meet current and future needs and showcases Adaptive’s passion for science while inspiring breakthrough science and promoting employee retention.
