A Campus for Creative Learning
The second phase of a growing charter school campus delivers hands-on spaces for innovation, recreation, and next-generation education.
MaST II Community Charter School – Phase Two
Philadelphia, PA
MaST II Community Charter School has earned recognition for its interdisciplinary approach to STEM education, blending robotics, engineering, media, and the arts into a dynamic learning model. Following the success of its Tacony campus expansion, the school advanced to phase two of its master plan—further transforming the site into a comprehensive, future-ready academic environment.
The new 84,000-square-foot building doubles the school’s educational space, adding specialized areas that expand student opportunity and engagement.
Designers positioned the rectilinear structure to frame a new south-facing courtyard that includes outdoor classrooms, recreation zones, and robotics testing linked directly to the maker space. A two-story elevated bridge connects the two academic buildings and includes flexible classrooms and shared learning spaces, reinforcing a sense of continuity across the campus. This phase introduces a fully outfitted maker space, a competition gymnasium with a fitness mezzanine, and an expanded media center. An e-gaming and video broadcast suite gives students access to emerging technologies and digital media platforms.
The project also features expanded parking, an enclosed outdoor drone zone, and new athletic field lighting—rounding out a learning environment that supports academic, creative, and physical development.
With phase two completed, MaST II continues to redefine what a charter school campus can be, offering students across Philadelphia a truly immersive and future-focused educational experience.
