Fillmore Minneapolis

Minneapolis, MN

Located in the Twin Cities’ vibrant North Loop neighborhood, the Fillmore Minneapolis provides a unique concert experience that intricately celebrates the city’s rich musical history. Designers drew their inspiration from the venue’s site – an abandoned rail yard formerly used in the logging and flour trade nestled along the banks of the Mississippi River. While each Fillmore location pays homage to the original San Francisco Fillmore’s identity through its signature crystal chandeliers, red velvet drapes, and wooden dance floor, the city’s local industrial and musical roots influenced this venue’s interior design. Guests ascend the staircase to the second-floor mezzanine, greeted by a mural of Minneapolis’s musical legend, Prince. Bathed in purple light and painted over a collage of old and new Fillmore show posters, Prince’s eye acknowledges guests as they pass. and enter BG’s Lounge. BG’s Lounge, the VIP room of the Fillmore, overlooks the street below. Surrounding its main bar is a series of banquettes upholstered in red, faux snake skin leather, separated by red velvet curtains, that feature custom show posters of area music greats such as Lizzo, The Replacements, and Bob Dylan. The main music hall features four glistening chandeliers suspended in the double-story space, psychedelic neon murals lining the walls, and a concert stage framed by a proscenium of thick steel trusses resembling Minneapolis’s many bridges. Along the outer edges of the dancefloor are two of the venue’s four bars – clad in reclaimed timbers that frame insets of recycled leather.
