Crown Event Center

Fayetteville, NC

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners in Fayetteville, NC, seeks to attract top-billing entertainment and generate revenue for the city by championing a new event and performing arts center. The existing Crown Complex includes several outdated venues constructed between 1967 and 1997, which need modernization.

EwingCole is designing the new Crown Event Center to replace the original theatre and arena. This state-of-the-art performing arts center will be a 137,000 SF facility, representing a multi-million-dollar investment. The design aims to reflect the community’s values and serve as an economic catalyst for the region. It will adhere to approved guiding principles and embrace the theme “Out of Many, One” and the natural aesthetic prevalent in the area, ensuring a cohesive and inclusive community space.

The Crown Event Center will be a unique addition to Cumberland County. It will feature a 3,000-seat main event center with VIP and general admission balconies and a multi-use banquet room with smaller meeting rooms for events and conferences. Additional features will include a VIP Lounge, numerous feature bars, venue food service spaces, and a roof terrace offering panoramic views of the downtown area. The center is designed to host various events such as concerts, comedy shows, family shows, Broadway productions, local performances, banquets, and conventions. To accommodate a variety of acts and performances, design includes advanced performance upgrades, including advanced acoustics, flexible stage configurations, enhanced rigging capabilities, diverse seating options, backstage support spaces for talent, and improved amenities.
