Bucknell University is known for its commitment to developing the whole student, supporting academic excellence alongside physical, mental, and emotional well-being. As part of this mission, the university sought to integrate its health, wellness, and athletic resources in a more cohesive and accessible way.
Recognizing the need for a centralized destination for wellness initiatives, Bucknell identified the Kenneth Langone Athletics and Recreation Center as the ideal location for a new addition that could serve as both a welcome center and a hub for student engagement.
The resulting two-story building combines diverse programs under one roof, offering students a holistic and integrated approach to health and wellness. The entire second floor is dedicated to a state-of-the-art Wrestling Training Center—one of the top collegiate facilities in the country—which provides Bucknell’s wrestling team with a permanent, high-performance environment that has strengthened team cohesion and identity.
The facility’s design reinforces school spirit through bold use of Bucknell branding, including the Bison mascot, wrestling logos, and the University’s signature orange and blue colors, creating a strong sense of belonging for student-athletes and the campus community.
As a result, the new building serves as a visible, energizing entry point to campus wellness and athletics, supporting both individual well-being and team success.
