Angela Matchica, PE, LC, LEED AP, is a Principal at EwingCole and the firm’s Civic Practice Leader. In this role, she provides strategic leadership for EwingCole’s Government, Cultural, and Education practices, helping guide the continued growth and integration of a nationally recognized civic portfolio focused on public impact, learning, culture, and community engagement.
Since joining the firm in 2007 as Director of Lighting and an Electrical Engineer, Angela has contributed to the planning, design, and delivery of a diverse range of cultural and civic environments that support education, visitor experience, collection display, and public engagement. Her work includes projects for clients such as the Smithsonian Institution, The Franklin Institute, Liberty Science Center, the Mann Center, Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, Princeton University, the Yale Center for British Art, and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Angela’s background in lighting and sustainable design informs her integrated approach to project leadership. She is passionate about creating high-performance environments that balance energy efficiency, flexibility, longevity, and exceptional user experience. Her work often incorporates innovative strategies to optimize daylighting, reduce energy consumption, and support long-term operational success for mission-driven institutions.
Known for her collaborative leadership style and strategic vision, Angela is committed to advancing design excellence while fostering stronger connections between public institutions, communities, and the built environment.
Angela holds a dual master’s/bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, lighting and electrical design, from Pennsylvania State University. She is a member of the American Alliance of Museums and the International Association of Museum Facility Administrators.
