LEED Certified:

Hamilton College

Hamilton wanted environmental sensitivity added to the list of upgrades in this residence hall renovation project. EwingCole was involved in the renovation of the 100 year old Skenandoa House from conceptual design to occupancy and provided the required expertise to improve energy performance by over 20% above governing energy code requirements. The upgrade included exterior skin enhancements, an 18-well geothermal heating and cooling system, energy efficient lighting, extensive building materials reuse, construction waste management, and commissioning services. Its students now enjoy improved facilities, more energy efficient systems, and a new look for the building, which holds a historic place in this campus' history. EwingCole is now assisting the college in applying these sustainable strategies to improve its facility maintenance, upgrade, and construction program campus-wide. In early 2006, this project became New York State's first LEED Certified Historically-Preserved Building, receiving LEED-NC Silver Certification. This is also Hamilton’s first LEED building on campus.
