The new $35 million two-story, 64,000 sf ambulatory clinic is located on 52 acres. The large outpatient facility, from the start designated to be a "green" building, allows Geisinger to accommodate its continuing expansion of primary and specialty care and ancillary services in the State College region of Pennsylvania. The new building includes 70 exam rooms, 16 procedure rooms, an expanded imaging center, laboratory services and an on-site pharmacy. Primary care services include OB/GYN, pediatrics, and family medicine. Specialty services include ophthalmology, cardiology, urology and pulmonology. The front of the two-story structure features a glass walkway. The sloping roof design is meant to bring the building in scale with the surrounding area, which is located near a major highway and expansive, upscale residential community. The building features which helped the project achieve LEED GOLD Certification included a green roof, plentiful access of public spaces to daylighting, an HVAC system that performed 35% better than the ASHRAE 90.1 energy code, a natural wild flower and native grasses exterior landscaped site, water efficient plumbing fixtures, local materials, recycled materials, and a thorough program to greatly reduce the possibility of volatile organic compounds and other pollutants from entering the building. The facility was built to create a positive experience for all patients who visit Geisinger-Gray’s Woods.
