Professional Sports:

New York Football Giants

Designed by EwingCole, the Legacy Club is a two-room, 5,000 sf, no-holds-barred game-day space that celebrates the Giants’ history and tradition and is available to fans for games, special events and tours. Since the new Stadium is also used by the Jets and major league soccer organizations, the entire arena is team-neutral. EwingCole worked with the Giants management and consultants on developing the concepts, ideas, messaging and exhibit themes over a two year period. The Legacy Club is the only area in the massive stadium devoted to the Giants. “People have asked us for years and it was always something I wanted to do,” said New York Giants’ President and CEO John Mara. “We have so much history; we wanted to find a place to display it.” The first room in the Club, the Tribute Room, is a place for fans to experience the history of the team, its players, coaches, owners, venues and championships. On display is original material created by artists and craftsmen specifically for this project, as well as loaned and borrowed items from family members and donors, unique player artifacts, fan memorabilia, graphics, media, and interactive exhibits. Interactive displays with touch-screen monitors provide videos of performances and interviews from the distant and recent past. Player and owner busts, championship trophies and player equipment used throughout the decades are featured. A special highlight is NFL patriarch Wellington Mara’s executive desk and personal artifacts. The Tribute room leads to the Club Room, which features additional display cases, graphics, artwork and exhibits. This room has a variety of uses. During games it is a social space, with dining tables, high-top tables and monitors that broadcast the game live. Field-side seating is located directly outside the Club for viewing the Giants home games. The room is also convertible for conferences, banquets, meetings and special occasions. “If you want to know who the Giants are, walk somebody through here,” said Mary Musca, Project Executive for the Giants. “What John and Steve Tisch wanted is for fans to be immersed in Giants history and traditions.”
