The article featured Geisinger Health System- Center for Health Research in Danville, Pennsylvania. The 63,000 square foot building used for research and health advocacy was a LEED Silver building under LEED version 2.1 for new construction. The article focuses on examples within the facility to examine daylight harvesting and energy reduction methods in the design process.

The three hour lighting workshop focused on sustainable design and the coordination amongst disciplines required for a fully integrated energy efficient building design. Presenters focused on lighting systems and their influence on architectural, electrical, mechanical systems. Case studies were used to examine the different design approaches that can be incorporated for a ‘green’ building design. Workshop attendees played an active part in the presentation, including detailed discussions on MEP commissioning and the LEED rating system.
