Olympus Americas

The main administrative space is developed along a centralized team environment that allows all occupants complete access to natural light from the glass exterior walls. A light shelf is incorporated on the southern facade to provide relief from direct sun in the winter months. A perimeter fluorescent lighting cove is automatically turned off during the day, and turned on during evening hours providing an internal glow on the facades. To accommodate new product training and sales, a large portion of the main level is dedicated to visitors. The lobby space receives natural daylight from the front and north facade glazing. Ceiling pockets were created highlighted with white LED coves and metal halide PAR COMBO luminaires highlight the plantings, vertical elements and displays in the space. The overall building lighting control system works in conjunction with the lighting systems to shed electric lighting when daylight is available. Preset dimming controls one incorporated into all conference and meeting rooms. This project was awarded an International Illumination Design Award of Merit in 2007 by the Illuminating Engineering Society.
