IES 2009 Illumination Awards- National Award Of Merit IES 2009 Illumination Awards- Section Award- Award Of Merit The casino lighting concept intent was to bond the integrity of the surrounding culture with a contemporary allure. Wood plank ceilings and undulating soffits unify the bar and entry spaces with the main gaming floor. The ellipsoidal bar and seating are highlighted utilizing metallic luminaires with flower-like cut outs, creating scalloping effects for added interest. The steakhouse features a color changing LED cove, transforming the ceiling into a kinetic design element. Fabric pendants and fluorescent coves add a soft glow, creating an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. By using familiar shapes, colors and materials, the overall design of Harrington Raceway and Casino conveys an elegant “country comfortable” feeling without duplicating the regional architecture. The network dimming lighting control system allows for gaming floor preset control, zoned dimming and color changing preset chase scene for LED elements. This project was the recipient of a 2009 Illumination Design Award from IESNA.
