Lighting Design

EwingCole lighting designers have established a strong reputation for creative and innovative design, working closely with architects, interior designers, and owners to help them realize their visions. Our lighting group works together as an integrated design team with expertise in lighting designs healthcare, academic, entertainment, cultural, sports facilities, government, and research and technology facilities. We have experience in various aspects of lighting design including master planning, energy analysis, computer simulation and design documentation. Our Lighting Design practice is based upon the belief that the development of a very strong lighting planning and design concept becomes the guide for the project. We believe in the total integration of the lighting with architecture, building, site, and engineering systems — where the crossing of boundaries fosters innovation in lighting design and furthers project goals. We start each project with a focus on the vision of all project stakeholders in the development of an agreement of goals for the project working process, budget, and schedule.

At EwingCole we believe in the power of light, both in the natural and artificial form. Light creates an architectural story, playing multiple roles in the creative process. Not only is lighting an integral component of the visual design but it also plays the part of narrator to the building architecture. Create Atmosphere Lighting has the capacity to support the architectural integrity of a space by disappearing into its surroundings. It can also be the center point of visual stimulation, excelling as an independent design component. Evoke Emotion Lighting evokes an emotional persona within a fixed architectural design. Light enters the eye and passes into our imagination, helping us associate and recognize the best moments of our past and transport these atmospheres into our present. Enhance the experience Lighting transforms the static into kinetic- adding form, contrast and color to invoke a unique and personal experience. It has the ability to lead us through a space and focus our attention using a combination of subtle and dramatic tactics.
